Drawing from her recent research about digital images in the war against Ukraine, Evelyn Runge provides a close reading of photographs and social media footage as a case study of networked images and ethical decision making in the realm of digital visual journalism. Whereas digital visual journalism, including open source investigations, is a team effort and backed by normative orders such as codes of ethics and press codices, new solution-oriented approaches propose the need for personal ethical statements.
