The KWI welcomes new international fellows Ryan Nutting<\/a>, Carla R. Almeida<\/a> and Danilo Scholz<\/a> to Essen. The fellows will join the KWI until the end of March 2021 to pursue their research interests.<\/p>\n

Historian and museologist Ryan Nutting<\/a> will investigate the Museum Folkwang collection to unravel functions and interpretations of ethnographic models. Physician Carla R. Almeida<\/a>\u00a0will look into the theoretical and conceptual history of black holes. During her fellowship, she will work on her new book, provisionally entitled \u201cDiscovering Black Holes\u201c.<\/p>\n

Historian of ideas Danilo Scholz<\/a> is integrated into the new fellowship programme with the Thyssen@KWI Grant awarded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation<\/a>. At the KWI, he will explore the emancipatory promises of technocratic ideas in the United Kingdom, Germany and France for his new project, \u201cThe Rise of the Administrative Mind, 1918-1968\u201c. KWI INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS
\nWith this new fellowship programme, the KWI is reinforcing its interdisciplinary agenda through international collaboration. Fellowships are awarded for six months to excellent researchers from the humanities, cultural studies and social sciences. Supported by the KWI\u2019s research infrastructure, researchers can focus intensely on their projects and enrich the KWI with new perspectives and ideas. Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the programme thus facilitates new modes for working in international collaboration. Applications were open to research fellows with a completed PhD and up to six years of post-doc experience. The next call for applications for the period from October 2021 to March 2022 will follow shortly.<\/p>\n

Das KWI begr\u00fc\u00dft Ryan Nutting, Carla R. Almeida und Danilo Scholz als neue internationale Fellows in Essen. Bis Ende M\u00e4rz 2021 werden die Wissenschaftler*innen am KWI ihren Forschungsinteressen nachgehen.<\/p>\n

Der Historiker und Museumswissenschaftler Ryan Nutting<\/a> wird anhand der Sammlung des benachbarten Museum Folkwang Forschungen zur Funktion und Interpretation ethnografischer Modelle durchf\u00fchren. Carla R. Almeida<\/a>, die auch als Physikerin ausgebildet ist, befasst sich mit der Geschichte der Entdeckung und Konzeptionierung des Ph\u00e4nomens der schwarzen L\u00f6cher. Am KWI konzentiert sie sich auf ihr Buch mit dem Arbeitstitel \u201cDiscovering Black Holes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Der Ideenhistoriker Danilo Scholz<\/a>, der mit dem Thyssen@KWI Stipendium der Fritz Thyssen Stiftung<\/a> in das neue Fellow-Programm des KWI integriert ist, verfolgt am KWI ein neues Forschungsprojekt: Mit \u201cThe Rise of the Administrative Mind, 1918-1968\u201d widmet er sich den emanzipatorischen Versprechungen technokratischer Ideen in Gro\u00dfbritannien, Deutschland und Frankreich. KWI INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS
\nMit dem neuen Fellow-Programm verst\u00e4rkt das KWI seine interdisziplin\u00e4re Agenda in internationaler Zusammenarbeit. Die halbj\u00e4hrigen Forschungsstipendien richten sich an exzellente Wissenschaftler*innen der Geistes-, Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften. Mit Hilfe der Infrastruktur des KWI k\u00f6nnen sich die Wissenschaftler*innen sechs Monate intensiv ihrer Forschungsarbeit widmen und das KWI-Kollegium um neue Impulse und Perspektiven bereichern. Auf diese Weise k\u00f6nnen selbst mitten in der Pandemiekrise neue Arbeitsformen internationaler Kollaboration entstehen. Bewerben konnten sich promovierte Forscher*innen mit bis zu sechs Jahren Postdoc-Erfahrung.
