Examples reach from the \u2018new migration literatures\u2019 in Germany, France and other European countries to authors who attempt to recover forgotten histories of diversity and cross-cultural otherness in India.\u00a0Drawing on the recent work of writers in English, German, Malayalam, and Spanish, in three distinct sites \u2013 India, Germany and the US \u2013 I examine how writers interrogate migration and movement through the lenses of embodiment and gender. On the basis of examples from diverse literary economies \u2013 texts such as Arundhati Roy\u2019s new novel\u00a0The Ministry of Utmost Happiness\u00a0(2017), the provocative poetry installations of Anitha Thampi, or Yoko Tawada\u2019s German poetry \u2013 I will argue for a critical perspective that views depictions of transgressive, gendered embodiments as rooted in the local and particular.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","event_category":[45,460],"class_list":["post-8881","veranstaltung","type-veranstaltung","status-publish","hentry","event_category-colloquium","event_category-events-in-english"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/veranstaltung\/8881","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/veranstaltung"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/veranstaltung"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8881"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"event_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_category?post=8881"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
