The head office of the German Sociological Association (GSA) (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie, DGS) is located at the KWI. The German Sociological Association was founded in 1909 to represent academically qualified sociologists in Germany. It currently has over 3600 members. About four fifths of all German sociologists with a Ph.D. thus belong to this organization.
