KWI invites outstanding scholars from across the globe to apply for its 14th cohort of International and Thyssen@KWI Fellowships, a six-month residency designed for researchers in the humanities, cultural studies, and the social sciences. The fellowships enable scholars to pursue independent research projects in an interdisciplinary and intellectually stimulating environment

KWI International Fellowships
Open to researchers worldwide
For early-career scholars who have completed their PhD and possess up to six years of postdoctoral experience, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity to pursue independent research aligned with KWI’s core research agenda. Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of scholarly achievement and a clear vision for how their work will contribute to ongoing intellectual conversations at the intersection of the humanities and social sciences. Note: German nationals may apply only if currently employed at an international research institution.

This prestigious fellowship is designed for researchers with substantial postdoctoral experience and a proven track record of international collaboration. It is open to exceptional scholars from all nationalities, including German nationals, provided they can demonstrate significant international research engagement and a compelling contribution to global scholarly networks. The fellowship supports independent research projects at an advanced level that connect with the institute’s research areas.
