The Politics of Aesthetics: Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication in Artistic Research

Azadeh Fatehrad, KWI International Fellow

Online (Zoom)

The Politics of Aesthetics: Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication in Artistic Research is designed to rethink the relationship between text and image. In her current project, Fatehrad is interested in the notion of “in-betweenness” in (1) verbal and (2) non-verbal communications, and the ways in which descriptions or meanings are lost in the use of vocabulary, gestures, tones, translations and exchanges. In particular, she is focusing on decentring which, at the macro level, relates to the multiplicity of history, visual culture and its socio-political associations that coexist and can be traced, captured, or illustrated in different parts of the world. At the micro level, the concept is concerned with form, abstraction and fragmentation.

ABOUT THE COLLOKWIUM
The ColloKWIum provides a platform to present and discuss ongoing as well as emerging research projects. In addition to addressing projects within KWI – including the work of our new fellows – it is open to guest lectures that tie in with the institute’s research agenda.
