On Compromise

Compromise is an essential technique for regulating conflicts. Compromise does not eliminate disagreements between conflict parties, but often requires difficult concessions from all sides. Some disciplines, such as political science and philosophy, have dealt intensely with compromise. In other disciplines, such as history, the concept of compromise offers an innovative approach to established research subjects.
