Four or Five Footnotes to the Climate Crisis

Kris Decker, KWI International Fellow

Online (Zoom) & Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) Essen, Room 106, Goethestr. 31, 45128 Essen

On the occasion of this workshop-style session, Kris Decker brings a few materials and thoughts from his fieldwork on climate issues. Some footnotes – fragmentary and unpolished – shall trace the contours of a project in the making as well as problematize the ways and means of thinking with/through/below/alongside wicked matters of concern, such as the onepointfivedegrees climate target. Besides, this séance is intended to open an exchange about the everyday practices, pitfalls, and desperations of composing a manuscript – essayistic or not – from a mess of materials. Everyone is invited to bring and share experiences of their own. For prior reading, participants are pointed to a Bruno Latour interview on his diary-keeping practice and the stakes of writing about planetary issues (so-called).
